Krokbragd, meaning “crooked path,” is a weft-faced technique suitable for Rigid Heddle as well as shaft-loom weaving. This kit includes enough yarn to make up to 12 different mug rugs using one basic pattern and four colors. Order a kit.

Pattern downloads include instructions for Rigid Heddle (single heddle with heddle rod and string heddles) and shaft loom weaving. Yardages vary based upon loom waste.

Equipment

  • Rigid Heddle or 4-shaft loom
  • 8-18 heddles per shaft for 4-shaft loom
  • 5-dent* reed for Rigid Heddle, 5- or 10-dent reed for 4-shaft
  • 1 pick-up stick, heddle rod + 8 string heddles for Rigid Heddle version
  • 2-4 ski or stick shuttles 

*direct warp and sley option given for a 12-dent reed (a 10-dent reed will not produce 5 epi)

Yarn

Warp: Cotton Seine Twine #6, 85-95 yds.

Weft: Dwella Rug Wool, 30 yds Marina, 50 yds Patina, 50 yds Natural, 30 yds Sky.
